MATERIAL MATERIAL GIRL???
Madonna is an egotistical idiot for using her daughter in a hair-brained scam to rip off a trademark that she doesn't own. She should have trademarked the Material Girl phrase for use in fashion a long time ago, but basically used the concept to enhance her image and as a musical expression instead. If she was TRADING,ie: selling product like clothing under the name Material Girl all along, she might have retained exclusive rights. However she does have some small claim to development of the concept as she has been known as(aka), The Material Girl. Sometimes sarcastically. The song Material Girl was written by Peter Brown & Roberta Rans, who obviously retain Copyright, but not necessarily the Trademark to the phrase. The track was produced by Nile Rodgers. The fashions that Madonna wore in the video were designed by???

THE RASCALS REUNION NOT BULLSHIT.
My first recording industry contact with members of The Young Rascals recording team was when I met Producer/Engineers Adrian Barber & Bruce Turgeson thru the late great, Michael Kamen, leader of The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble whom they were producing. Prior to this Adrian & Bruce had been involved in producing the BeeGees concept album Odessa, (released in Flocked Red Velvet) and several Rascal albums at Ahmet Ertegun's Atlantic Recording Studios on Broadway. Eventually I recorded briefly with them (more about this another time). They told me how they had used not one, but two 16 track machines to record some of the Young Rascals hits!
Quite a number of years later I met the Brigati Brothers and their Mom at one of their homes in NJ- they were the original Starliters with Joey Dee along with Dino or Gene. I ended up producing Groovin' extracted from a 24 track analog recording produced with Jimmy Vox in Berlin, as a duet between my 'Superstar' Girlfriend and Eddie Brigati, with Gene Cornish on guitar & harmonica. These tracks were layed by computer. Now The Rascals won't speak to me thanks to my ex 'Superstar Girlfriend.' But The Rascals were always feuding- Eddie felt Sid Bernstein (Beatles, Stones Phoebe Snow, who is a personal acquaintance of mine), had sold them out. The Rascals would swing back & forth between loyalty to Eddie or Felix.
I originally met Dino on the roof of the Chelsea Hotel at a party one night and then he moved into a building that another girlfriend of mine lived in across 5th Avenue from the Metropolitan Museum next to the then Stanhope Hotel. On an inspiration, I invited the band to 'Rascal Rock' Pub for drinks, on West 43 St. which was Pat Kenny's midtown place (Kenny's, Cat Club, Biter End etc.) that I was promoting right before they were inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame.....
Several of THE RASCALS are probably still writing. We talked about starting a new label. Eddie played us one of his recent compositions- Kilimanjaro- which I still remember as being quite beautiful, but it seems they were all very disenchanted with the music business. Neil Young spoke about this at their Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Nothing can diminish the fact that THE RASCALS are one of the great ROCK& SOUL BANDS of the SIXTIES! They rank with Hendrix Experience, Arthur Lee & Love, Sly & The Family Stone, The Steve Miller Band, The Chambers Brothers. Yes, that was ROCK & SOUL!

LOU DOBBS IS RIGHT ON IMMIGRATION
Lou Dobbs Is Right On Immigration!
DOBBS is RIGHT if only on this one issue, but he is right. He wants the currently 20 MILLION horde of job stealing illegal immigrants to either apply for citizenship in a proper manner or leave! What's wrong with that? American Citizens can't find enough work to save their homes. American Citizens are surviving on food stamps! On the job health and safety standards have eroded. Possibly hundreds of thousands of illegals are involved in gangs, hard drug trafficking, violent crime, extortion of American Citizens, slave labor, Union busting, black market goods, 5th column spying, prostitution rings, preying on senior citizens, identity theft and more. Our government has to resume enforcing a rational immigration policy with exceptions for political asylum, health needs or family crisis. But that's all. If the U.S. sinks any further how will we be able to help anyone else? Should we have millions of our own American Citizens jobless and living in the streets??? And then there's financial NEOCON Mastermind Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who says, "Immigrants do the jobs that most Americans refuse to do." That's Bullshit! Dobbs is right about this.

The GOP NEOCON ESTABLISHMENT has beeen steadfastly working on dumbing down the population, taking control of newspapers, TV and Radio, destroying the Middle Class, eliminating Labor Unions, and basically dismantling everything we thought was good about the U.S. which now ranks 37th or 47th in Healthcare with France ranking #1. I believe this is not only an indicator of physical health but of the general MENTAL health of our population as well.
